Policies and

Code of Conduct

Below is a list of standing rules regarding safety and conduct. All participants of RECKONING will sign and submit a waiver agreeing to these terms prior to being allowed to participate in the event. We kindly ask all attendees to respect and adhere to these guidelines to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone. If you have any questions or concerns regarding our policies, please contact our event team for assistance.

  • All attendees of RECKONING must be at least 18 years old. Valid photo identification may be required upon entry to the event.

Any players under the age of 18 who attended Reckoning 1 or 2 may attend Reckoning 3, but they must be accompanied by an adult guardian (21+). No guardian may be responsible for more than two minors in attendance. If you wish to purchase a ticket for a player who is under the age of 18, please contact staff so that we can coordinate with you.

  • Attendees may bring their own alcohol. All attendees planning on partaking in alcohol must bring a state issued photo ID with their date of birth.

Any minor consuming alcohol or attendees providing alcohol to minors will be asked to leave the event. Legal action may be taken in order to remove liability from RECKONING in the event of player misconduct. We ask that players drink and enjoy themselves in moderation so as to avoid any possible issues regarding alcohol.

  • Reckoning has a strict Zero Tolerance Policy for Harassment, read our full policy here.

  • No illegal drugs are allowed at RECKONING. Marijuana is currently illegal in Kentucky. In the event that illegal drugs are discovered, attendees connected to them will be ejected from the game and the authorities will be contacted. Any prescription should be in its original bottle with the name of its intended owner clearly visible. If you have a prescription intended for emergencies, please ensure that your culture leads are aware in case such an emergency should arise.

  • Real weapons are not permitted to be worn or used for any reason at Reckoning LARP. Swords or other real steel weapons may be permitted to be sold by vendors but they cannot be used or worn by players during the game. Knives, axes, or other camping utensils are permitted as long as they do not leave the camp area.

Players may not bring any firearms onto the site.

  • We encourage all attendees to lock valuables in their vehicles if and whenever possible. Please do not leave any valuables laying out and visible in the camping or play areas unattended. RECKONING is not liable for any lost or stolen property during the event. Any found property can be given to a Staff member, and they will do their best to locate its owner. If a player has lost an item, please ask Staff to check if it has been found.

Other Notes of Safety

Fire Watch

All fires must be in raised fire beds on the property. Staff may ask for volunteers to monitor campfires, but all players should make sure that there are no unattended flames in or around the campsites. Fires can never be left unattended in any area of the event.

Wildlife

When you go camping, you are going into the home of wild animals. Follow these instructions to stay safe around wildlife:

  • Make sure to keep your campsite clean. Do not leave food, trash, or anything smelly out in the open or in your tents. This may attract wild animals to your campsite.

  • If you are camping and do not have a car, food should be sealed and hung in a tree out of reach of animals and away from your tent.

  • Do not feed or try to pet the wildlife, even if they seem friendly.

  • Always stay with a buddy. Do not hike alone or at night.

  • Pay attention when you are in wild areas. Look. Listen.

  • Stay away from dead animals you find in the wild.

  • Stay away from young animals you find in the wild.

Rules and Safety Briefing

All players are required to attend the safety briefing on Friday which will cover all rules and safety topics:

  • Please lock your cars at all times and ensure you know where your keys are.

  • RECKONING is NOT responsible for player belongings, so they are encouraged to store them in a safe place.

  • Settling disputes - look for an Arbiter or Staff Member.

  • Be clear on the use of alcohol and the ability to discern consensual and non-consensual behavior.

  • Ensure every participant knows that illegal activity (under age drinking, drugs, etc.) shall be reported to the authorities and will not be tolerated and will result in an immediate expulsion from the event and removal from the property.

  • RECKONING has the right and responsibility to provide a safe place for all participants. RECKONING reserves the right to dismiss a player for any reason whatsoever.
