The Undead have long been shrouded in mystery, their existence relegated to the realm of fantastical tales told to children who stay out too long after nightfall. After their appearance at the ritual to cleanse the sword of Hillshire, they were defeated and driven into the forest. Since then there has been little sign of them, though a few rumors of sightings in the north have been heard. The revelation of their existence has cast an ominous shadow over the lands of the living, though some disbelieve these sinister reports. The mysteries of why they have appeared, how they have been created, and what they want from the March have yet to be discerned.
Little is known about the Undead themselves, save that they are intelligent. On the battlefield they have been observed giving commands and fighting in formation, with some undead acting as battlefield commanders. Whispers abound of a mysterious "Queen" who commands their allegiance.
