Figures in the Frost
The Vadurkin, long hardened by the unforgiving climate of the Snostein mountains and centuries of strife with their southern neighbors, are a people defined by their tenacity and strong communal bonds. Life in the mountains is governed by a primal code: the survival of the fittest. Yet not all were closed off to the world beyond their borders.
The arrival of the Hadrian Empire permanently altered the ancient balance of power in the March. The Vadurkin, recognizing the shifting tides of power in the March, faced a pivotal decision. With no singular voice to lead them and nearly a century since a Konungr had united them, the clans were at a crossroads.
In Wintervale, the heartland of ancient Vadurkin heritage, a great assembly was called. Here, in the shadow of the first Jarlmut's setting, the jarls and karls, answering the summons that could not be ignored without risking their lives. The air was thick with tension and anticipation, as every clan within the Vadurkin society brought forth their vision for the future.
Some proposed an alliance with the Hadrians, preferring the stability of trade over the uncertainty of war. Others sought to support the Rivlans, seizing the opportunity to repel the encroaching empire. Yet, there were those who wished to remain aloof, to let the southern lands handle their own turmoil.
What began as heated debates escalated into a series of conflicts that would reshape the Vadurkin. The struggle for power was rife with battles, raids, and political upheaval. From this chaos, a new leader emerged: Geir of the Magtvæg clan, a figure of unity and strength.
After a grueling Jarlmut, Geir was chosen as the Konungr, marking the dawn of a new era for the Vadurkin. Entrusting the leadership of his clan to his daughter, Geir set a new course for his people.
Now, under Geir's leadership, the Vadurkin look to the south once more. With a clear vision and a united front, they are poised to navigate the complexities of the March and secure their place in history.
